Dr. Sudhir Kumar Mishra
Dr. Sudhir Kumar Mishra is a renowned missile scientist and former Distinguished Scientist & Director General (BrahMos), DRDO, Ministry of Defence, and CEO & MD, BrahMos Aerospace. He led the team of engineers and scientists that developed and delivered the world's fastest supersonic cruise missile, ensuring the operational readiness of the Indian Armed Forces.
Dr. Sudhir Kumar Mishra is a renowned missile scientist and former Distinguished Scientist & Director General (BrahMos), DRDO, Ministry of Defence, and CEO & MD, BrahMos Aerospace. He led the team of engineers and scientists that developed and delivered the world’s fastest supersonic cruise missile, ensuring the operational readiness of the Indian Armed Forces.
He holds a degree from Government Engineering College, Jabalpur, a postgraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Madras, and a Ph.D. from NIT Warangal, with over 37 years of R&D experience in missile technology, production technology, technology management and defence diplomacy. He previously served as Counsellor, Defence Technology at the Embassy of India, Moscow, and as a member of the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe).
As CEO & MD of BrahMos Aerospace, his “Mind to Market” approach spanned the complete product life cycle of the BrahMos Weapon System, including the Land-to-Land, Sea-to-Land and Air-to-Sea/Land versions. He spearheaded the BrahMos-Air programme, making India the first country to successfully flight-test an air-launched supersonic cruise missile from a Sukhoi-30 MKI, and negotiated India’s first export contract for the BrahMos system, to the Philippines.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society (UK), the Aeronautical Society of India, the Institution of Engineers (India) and IETE, among other professional bodies, and holds honorary Doctor of Science and Doctor of Literature degrees from several universities. His honours include the DRDO Scientist of the Year Award, the IIT Madras Distinguished Alumnus Award, and the Madhya Pradesh Gaurav Samman.
